YouTube Channel Review
Meet Emma Frances Chamberlain, a 20-year-old, über-popular YouTube influencer from California whom many have called the funniest girl on the internet.
Emma uploaded her first video to her YouTube channel in 2017. Soon, she had 100,000 views a month. By her junior year of high school, she was wrestling with depression and decided to drop out, take the California High School Exit Exam and spend more time creating content. After that, she slowly began collaborating with other YouTubers such as James Charles and David Dobrick, adding to her existing popularity.
Now, Emma has more than 10 million followers. She’s been featured in TIME magazine, works as a model, collaborates with businesses, has a coffee line and even has her own podcast called Anything Goes.
Just a few seconds into any video, and it’s easy to see how this young woman has become a star: She’s genuinely funny. And it’s probably the combination of her self-depreciating humor and raw editing style that gives her an upper hand on those who produce more polished content.
For teens and young adults looking for someone who seems to be extreemely authentic, without any sort of filter, they need not look much farther than Emma Chamberlain.
That said, her videos often feature a lot of profanity (though more so when she was younger), innapropriate jokes, random wonderings, naked meditation (that’s all blurred out, by the way) and full-on narration about her daily life.
Positive Content
Emma encourages people to be self-aware, to set boundaries, to work out and to be healthy. Her videos also encourage girls to be genuine, as Emma even films herself without makeup and with blemished skin.
Content Concerns
Emma can come off as rude and arrogant in some videos.
Jesus’ name is misused at times. There’s a ton of profanity, including the f- word, the s-word and others such as “b–ch,” “a–,” “h—, and “d–n.”
Emma sports a crop top, dances, and shakes her backside in front of the camera. She also meditates naked in front of a camera (though her body is blurred, and nothing is exposed to YouTubers on screen. ). Emma talks about her horoscope.
Channel Summary
Entertainment can always be a mixed bag. And so it is with Emma Chamberlin. This 20-year-old’s self-deprecating humor, raw editing style and down-to-earth personality have made her one of the most successful young YouTubers out there.
But parents should also be aware that some problems creep into the mix here, too, notably quite a bit of profanity as well as those (blurred) images of Emma meditating sans clothes.
