Album Review

Pro-Social Content

Only the bluesy “Since I Fell for You” and memorable Beatles lament “Yesterday” dim the album’s otherwise sunny outlook on love (“To Love Somebody,” “You Send Me,” “Bring It on Home to Me”). Via a remake of the Four Tops’ number-1 hit from 1966, “Reach Out I’ll Be There,” Bolton commits to support, love and shelter a floundering, disillusioned woman. Music soothes the savage breast via Dobie Gray’s classic, “Drift Away.” Bolton closes with Irving Berlin’s seasonal favorite, “White Christmas.”

Summary Advisory

Bolton’s soulful voice is adored by fans, tolerated by casual channel surfers and maligned by critics. Say what you want; he keeps it clean.Timeless (The Classics) is an album of lushly arranged rhythm and blues, pop standards and Motown favorites likely to endear him to many teens as well as parents.
